“It just seems like really nothing is going forward. You see a lot of urban development planning happening in Lake Country, and the business side of things (isn’t) keeping up with the infrastructure compared to what our residential is.”

Rhodes feels residents aren’t getting enough information about where their tax dollars are going.

“There is a bylaw tax. We pay $125 for a road service tax, but it just seems there is a lot of people that are concerned with the conditions of the roads, like where is this money going? Why isn’t this road fixed?”

Rhodes says he filed his papers to run about an hour before last Friday’s deadline, and says he’s never run for office before, but he doesn’t think that’s a knock against him.

“You don’t know until you try. That’s why we have an electoral system. If they don’t like it, they wont vote for you, so I’m hoping I can rally their support , and hopefully we can make some changes.”

Barry Rhodes talks about why he decided to run for mayor in an interview with Beach Radio’s Pete McIntyre.

Rhodes says he gives a strong Yes to the District’s referendum to borrow 6.6 million dollars for a new firehall.

“It is a necessary thing that is needed in the community.”

Nine people are running for the six councillor positions in Lake Country, including five incumbents.
