Newcomer Takes On Veteran Mayor
A retired corrections officer is vying to become Lake Country’s next mayor.
Barry Rhodes (pictured) has been living in the District for five years, running a hobby farm on Chase Road in Okanagan Centre.
As he takes on four term incumbent James Baker, Rhodes is concerned council isn’t listening to residents.
“I’ve been talking to a lot of people in the community. It’s become pretty stagnant, and nobody is really into it. Everybody has got a lot of complaints, and when you asked them about the complaints about going to council, it just falls on deaf ears, nothing ever happens. Nothing is going to change,” Rhodes tells Beach Radio News.
