Event Feeds Funds To Food Society

An event billed as a laid back way to meet other young professionals, while raising money for charity, has hit its mark in Vernon.

The third annual BDO Lawn Days of Summer was held at the Vernon Lawn Bowling Club, and raised $3,215 for the Food Action Society of the North Okanagan.

The networking event saw teams of four compete at the Club in August, with Kidston and Company LLP coming out on top.

The tournament was also kind to the environment, with almost everything either recycled or composted.

“All cans and bottles were recycled and any food-related waste was composted, so the tournament generated a very minor amount of non-recyclable garbage. Way to go!,” says Samara Sonmor, Executive Director of the Food Action Society.
