Firm Outlines Land Values

Firm Outlines Land Values

Enderby Council has had an update from the consulting firm it hired to look into prospects for developing some empty land around the city.

Mayor Greg McCune says the consultants met with land owners to see their interest and give them an idea of land values.

“We’re very happy with the results of that. I think now when people approach the community, we’ve identified, I believe it’s 13 pieces of property that  someone wants to invest in Enderby can have a good look at those.”

McCune says most of the land is in the north end industrial park.

He says Aspen Lands did a good job in explaining regulations and values.

“Well exactly and a lot of them just didn’t know. You know they’re sitting on like five acres and they’re thinking it’s worth x amount, and then when discussions and basic comparisons throughout the valley happen, it gave them a clearer picture.”

McCune says some property owners were surprised what their land could be worth.

“So I think it was positive to have those discussions and just let people know that there is people investing in our community and when they come here, you know, are you interested in having a dialogue with them. Very positive.”

McCune says it was a great exercise, something that has always been talked about, but never delved into.

He says moving forward, it positions the city nicely for future investment.
