Municipalities Remain In Limbo Over Cost Sharing Of Pot Sales
BC municipalities are seeking 40 percent of the provincial revenues from recreational cannabis sales.
Vernon mayor Akbal Mund says that request was made by the Union of BC Municipalities .
“I’m sure municipalities want to know, like Vernon hasn’t made any rules up because we’re waiting to get the final rules and regulations ourselves. Until we see that, they’re constantly changing, so, you don’t move forward and make bylaws, then you have to repeal them and make new ones.”
The municipalities say they will need the extra revenue to enforce and regulate the new rules.
