Coldstream has three term mayor Jim Garlick being challenged by former councillor Bill Firman, with 7 running for council, including five incumbents. More here

In Lumby, Kevin Acton was unchallenged for his fourth term as mayor of the village, while the 8 are running for the four council jobs.

In Armstrong, Chris Pieper has gone unopposed, winning his fourth term as mayor, while 7 are running for councillor including all 6 incumbents.

Jim Wright is the newcomer trying to win a seat.

Barry Rhodes emerged in the final hours to take on incumbent mayor James Baker in Lake Country, with 11 running for council.

Enderby has two for mayor: incumbent Greg McCune and Herman Halvorson and 7 for council.

Spallumcheen has incumbent mayor Janice Brown against councillor Christine Fraser, with 7 for council.

The Regional District of North Okanagan has races in Areas B, C and F, but acclamations in Area D (rural Lumby) for Rick Fairbairn, and Area E (Cherryville) for Hank Cameron.

The Vernon School Board has 13 people running for 6 positions, 3 of them for Greater Veron, 2 for Lumby and area and one for Coldstream.

Incumbent Robert Lee was the only one to run for Coldstream, meaning he is acclaimed.

The North Okanagan Shuswap School Board has 15 people running.

Coldstream will have a mayor’s race on Oct. 20th.

Three term mayor Jim Garlick is being challenged by former councillor Bill Firman.

Update 12:30 pm

Just a few hours to go for candidates to enter the races for the Oct 20th municipal elections.

The deadline for nominations is 4 pm.

Coldstream, Armstrong, Lumby and Lake Country all could have their incumbent mayors acclaimed as, at this point, the candidates are unchallenged.

Coldstream and Lumby were in positions Thursday to have their entire councils acclaimed, but that’s no longer the case, with 7 running in Coldstream and 6 in Lumby which elects four councillors.

Vernon has four candidates for mayor in Victor Cumming, Art Gourley, Darrin Taylor and Erik Olesen, along with 15 for council.

Twelve people are seeking the six seats on the Vernon School Board, which include three seats for Greater Vernon (8 candidates), one for Coldstream (one running), and 2 for Lumby and area (3 candidates).

At this point, there are nine candidates for the North Okanagan Shuswap School Board, which is making a return after BC’s education minister dismissed the previous board in 2016 due to financial issues and a loss of public confidence.

Candidates have just over a day left to file papers to run for municipal elections and schools boards in BC.

The deadline is 4 pm Friday.

At this point, three north Okanagan mayors are going unchallenged, and could be acclaimed.

The list includes veteran mayors Jim Garlick in Coldstream, Kevin Acton in Lumby, and Chris Pieper in Armstrong.

James Baker is also unopposed so far, in Lake Country.

The Village of Lumby and District of Coldstream’s entire councils could be acclaimed, with just the required number of candidates at this point.

Vernon has two candidates filed for mayor: Art Gourley and Darrin Taylor, and 14 for councillor.
