Rental Housing Gets Parking Variance

Sep 5, 2018 | 10:51 AM

Vernon council has approved variances to allow a proposed rental housing development to proceed.

A four story apartment with 216 units is planned for 5770 Pleasant Valley Road, north of Butcher Boys.

Christina Wilson is vice president of the developing firm, High Street Ventures.

“We do invest significantly into our projects. Energy efficiency is very important to us. These buildings will be built green-gold which is 60% better than typical code.”

Council approved three variances including reducing the number of required parking stalls from 342….to 324.

The variance was approved despite councillor Scott Anderson’s objection that it would lead to more vehicles parking on the street.

Retaining wall and loading variances were also supported.
