IPE Falls Short of Last Year’s Record Attendance

This year’s edition of the Interior Provincial Exhibition will go down as huge for fun…but sheepishly though, not so huge for overall attendance.

When the final tally came in it was 104,291…a far cry from the over 150,000 record set last year.

IPE Manager Yvonne Paulson says the method they have of recording people through the turnstiles, is not totally reflective of the actual number of people who attend the fair in various capacities.

Paulson told Beach Radio News she was very pleased with the caliber of entertainment and overall economic spin-off in the community.

Paulson reiterated, the people who did attend the fair totally enjoyed their experience as indicated with their positive comments and when it comes down to it, that is why they put on the annual spectacle known as the IPE.

Although not coming down on the weather as a potential attendance shortfall, Paulson said the extensive smoke in the area may have played a minor role in the drop in attendance.
