SilverStar Rescue Day Supports VJHF

Feb 2, 2018 | 7:06 AM

Nine of the region’s most skilled Emergency Services teams will be showcasing their skills and safety demonstrations at SilverStar Mountain Resort’s Emergency Services Day, on Saturday, February 17.

It will honour first responders and everyone who steps up to help people in crisis situations.

The event will feature everything from a heli-winch rescue to avalanche search techniques.

Demonstrations will be done by the RCMP, Vernon Search and Rescue, Central Okanagan Search & Rescue, Shuswap Search & Rescue, SilverStar Ski Patrol, FACTS First Aid, St John’s Ambulance, and The Dragoons.

Emergency Services team demonstrations are scheduled every half hour through the day from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

There will also be information booths in the village for anyone interested in learning more about what emergency services teams do and the equipment they use in their work.

Emergency Services Day is in support of Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation.

SilverStar will be donating $20 from every full-day adult alpine lift ticket sold on February 17th to the  Foundation.

Foundation Executive Director Lisa Westermark says  it “is a great community event that highlights the dedication our first responders have for the well-being of our community and SilverStar’s commitment to supporting health care for all North Okanagan residents”
