Murder Trial Date Set for Foerster

Oct 3, 2017 | 1:16 PM

A new trial date has been set for a North Okanagan murder suspect.

31 year old Matthew Foerster was convicted by a jury in 2014 of the first degree murder of 18 year old Taylor Van Diest in Armstrong on Halloween night 2011, but was granted a new trial in March of this year by the BC Court of Appeal, due to errors made by the judge in instructions to the jury.

Dan McLaughlin from the BC Prosecution Service says jury selection will begin May 28, 2018 in Kelowna, with the trial, estimated to take three to four weeks.

He says pre trial matters will be heard April 3 next year.
