Kyllo Supports Stone For Leader

The MLA for Shuswap says he will be supporting Kamloops MLA Todd Stone for the BC Liberal leadership — if Stone decides to run.

Greg Kyllo says he’s encouraging Stone to enter the race.

“I’ve got a lot of respect for Todd. He’s got a strong voice in caucus and I think he’s the one who is best able to represent British Columbia going into the next provincial election, whenever that may be,” Kyllo tells Kiss FM.

At last report, Stone was carefully considering running for Christy Clark’s former position.

Kyllo says the fact that Stone could be the lone candidate from the Interior is a positive, but not the main reason he is supporting him.

“It’s great to see representation from the rural portion of our province. Todd is certainly most closest to us in Sicamous. I’ve got to know Todd extremely well over the last four and a half years. As transportation minister he did a lot of great work in delivering some amazing projects all up and down Highway 1.”

Kyllo doesn’t think the leadership race will create bitter feelings and resentment among the candidates and their supporters.

“We all have a lot of respect for each other in caucus, and I am hopeful and confident that it will be a nice clean race, and at the end of the day, we will be 100 percent united behind the winner in February.”

Former attorney general Andrew Wilkinson is the latest to seek the position, joining Dianne Watts, Sam Sullivan and Lucy Sager.

Others considering a run are MLA’s Mike de Jong, Mike Bernier, Michael Lee.
