Teacher Disciplined For Inappropriate Behaviour

Sep 12, 2017 | 5:07 PM

A teacher in the Vernon School District has been disciplined for inappropriate behaviour in the classroom.

The BC Commissioner for Teacher Regulation says Justin Robert Morgan was visibly angry while teaching a grade 8 social studies class in September 2016.

He swore and told students to “shut up,” causing some kids to feel uncomfortable, anxious, intimidated and scared.

Morgan also used similar foul language while teaching a grade 12 sociology course the same month.

The school where the incidents occurred is not mentioned.

Two months later, the school district suspended Morgan for ten days without pay.

He was also directed — and did take — a course in creating a positive learning environment.

Morgan was also suspended for incidents in 2009 and 2006.
