Communication Is Key During Rail Trail Work

Sep 11, 2017 | 6:14 AM

A local politician is concerned about the impact construction of the Okanagan Rail Trail will have on all the people that have been using the north end of it.

Greater Vernon Advisory chair Juliette Cunningham has asked regional district staff to make sure the public is informed about where closures will be during the construction.

“I am concerned about that. I think we have to manage that really well. the public, they’ve been on that trail from day one. It’s getting busier and busier all the time.”

Cunningham says it’s important to keep everyone clear on what’s being done, where and when.

” I think if we could have communication. If we have to close it at one end we inform the public that they could access it at Kekuli or vice versa, depending on where the construction is being done.”

RDNO staff say prep work is taking place about half kilometre south of the Kickwillie Loop, and signs will inform users about any closures.
