Pothole Repair Needs Drier Weather

The annual spring clean-up of potholes on roads around Vernon is taking a bit longer than usual.
Public works manager James Rice says weather plays a big role.
“This year has been a bit of a challenge and obviously the weather contributes to that. They’re difficult to make the repairs in wet weather conditions,” Rice tells Kiss FM.”
Rice says the hot mix asphalt they used for permanent repairs, doesn’t work as well when its wet.
He says drivers have been providing updates on pothole sites, reported to the city’s website.
“We get fairly consistent reports on the potholes and that get prioritized and we tackle them as soon as we can with the available resources that we do have.”
He says they should be done in the next month.
