Green Leader Makes Vernon Stop

Vernon will get its first visit from one of BC’s party leaders, with just over a week to go before election day.

Green Party leader Dr. Andrew Weaver will be attending a mini rally with Vernon Monashee candidate Keli Westgate on the lawn outside the local office at 701 Hwy 97 S from 12 to 1 pm.

From 1 to 2 pm, Weaver will be walking around the downtown on 30th Ave with Westgate.

The latest poll, by Global News/Ipsos, suggests the Liberals now have a two-point lead over the NDP.

Fourty-three per cent of decided voters say they would most likely to support or lean towards the Liberals, while 41 per cent back the NDP.

The Liberals have gained four points since the start of the campaign, while the NDP has lost three points (was 44 per cent NDP to 39 per cent Liberals).

The Green Party has the support of 14 per cent of decided voters, which is up two points from the start of the campaign, according to the poll.

Twenty per cent of voters say they are undecided or said they had no preference towards any political party.
