French Immersion At Bearisto

A new French Immersion kindergarten class has been approved for Vernon’s Beairsto Elementary, starting this fall.

“Altogether we’ll have 100 students in (French Immersion) kindergarten. We’ll have two classes at Alexis Park, two classes at Harwood and one at Bearisto.”

Board chair Kelly Smith says its just for one year, with a stakeholders committee to review future options.

“So then the committee will have to look at it and see because, really, any change to a specialty program like that does in fact impact our regular education classes. So, we’ve got to be really careful.”
