Lumby is getting provincial funding to to prevent flooding.
MLA Eric Foster has announced 150-thousand dollars to allow the village to better plan for flood events and for mitigation projects.
Lumby — which has three streams flowing through it — has had issues with spring flooding over the years, some caused by the spilling of local reservoirs into Duteau Creek.
“As a former mayor, regional district chair, and now MLA, I have seen Lumby manage flood events throughout the past 30 years, says Foster. “This $150,000 investment will support the Village of Lumby with much-needed planning dollars to allow them to know the risks and plan ahead.”
Meantime, the City of Enderby is getting $547,000 in federal-provincial funds to upgrade the Shuswap River water main crossing.
“While they often go unnoticed, the investments we’re making in things like the river water main crossing in Shuswap are crucial to the community,” says MLA Greg Kyllo. “With the Province’s investment here, Enderby residents will benefit from an enhanced water sanitation system.”
