Mounties Accused of Excessive Force
A man shot by police in Salmon Arm is in intensive care in hospital — and the man’s mother feels the Mounties used excessive force.
Cindy Winter makes the claim in a Facebook post, saying her 22 year old son Kaymen Winter was shot in the head and shoulder and may have brain damage.
“So this is what i know….he was in salmon arm (sic) at the car wash in one of the wash bays….cops pulled up and i don’t know what happened,” Mrs. Winters writes on Facebook.
Mrs. Winter also says her son did not have a weapon.
“I think someone will be paying a pretty penny for firing on a unarmed person,” she writes.
RCMP say they shot a suspect in an alleged theft at a car wash Monday after the man tried to escape.
The Independent Investigations Office is looking into the case to determine if there was any wrongdoing by the police.
