More than 300 structures have been lost to wildfires in BC this season.

Robert Turner from Emergency Management BC says the updated figure is 305, based on information from regional districts.

“Seventy-one have been identified as homes or residences; structures in which people lived, and  one-hundred and 16 (116) outbuildings such as sheds and barns and other buildings that are not used for commercial purposes,” says Turner.

The numbers also include three commercial buildings, and 115 structures yet to be identified.

Turner says 45 of the lost homes and 111 outbuildings are in the Cariboo Regional District, one commercial building and 115 yet to be identified are in the Thompson Nicola Regional District, and 12 homes, one commercial building, and one outbuilding were destroyed on the Ashcroft Indian Band.
