Kelowna to unveil design for new City Park swim venue

Sep 17, 2026 | 3:00 PM

The City of Kelowna is set to unveil the design for a new swim venue at City Park, marking the next phase of a broader plan to transform the downtown waterfront.

The design will be unveiled Sunday at 2 p.m. at the northwest corner of City Park, giving residents their first look at the proposed swim venue and the next steps for the project.

The swim venue is part of the city’s overall City Park improvement plan, which is aimed at creating a more accessible and active waterfront destination for residents and visitors.

Several improvements have already been completed as part of the plan, including a new boardwalk, a relocated dog beach, new lighting and improved access to the water.

The city says the latest phase will build on those improvements with a dedicated swim venue at the waterfront.

Mayor Tom Dyas, city staff and project partners are expected to provide details about the design and the project’s next steps during Sunday’s announcement.

The event will take place at the northwest corner of City Park, at 1600 Abbott St.

Further details about the swim venue and the broader City Park improvement plan are expected to be released as the project moves forward.
