“While many factors contributed to managing the significant reduction in water availability, the amazing response and cooperation of residential and agricultural communities have averted disaster. Residents made big changes to how and when they used water, and those collective efforts have greatly helped our agricultural water customers and preserved stored water for emergency use. The agricultural community also responded by significantly reducing its use. It was a team effort. I want to sincerely thank everyone for doing their part.”

Though the goals over the summer were met the Okanagan remain in a drought, and water restrictions remain in effect. The RDNO urged people to continue conserving water and following their local water restrictions until conditions change.

The RDNO added Greater Vernon Water would continue to monitor water supply conditions, reservoir levels and future forecasts, and inform the public on any change to the supply and restrictions.
