Horizon Drive project back on track after contractor default
Work is set to resume on the long-delayed Horizon Drive Active Transportation Corridor project in West Kelowna after the original contractor defaulted on its contract.
The City of West Kelowna has taken over construction coordination and awarded a $435,727 contract to Emil Anderson Construction Inc. for the remaining asphalt work.
Paving is expected to begin in early October, with landscaping and other restoration work to follow. The city expects the overall project to be completed by November.
The project was originally awarded to EXO Contracting Ltd. through a competitive bidding process, but the company defaulted on its contractual obligations, leaving work unfinished.
