Vernon looking for federal funds to expand scope of Kin Beach Park renewal
A plan to upgrade the park at Kin Beach could see some enhancements.
The City of Vernon had planned to renew the playground and shelter, as they had reached the end of their service lives and needed to be replaced.
The city had dedicated $1-million though the Rolling 5-Year Infrastructure Program to do this work. However, city staff discovered the project was eligible for a grant through the Build Communities Strong Fund – Local Impact Stream.
It was found the federal funding stream could provide up to another $1-million for the project, which would be used to expand its scope and include a larger accessible playground, shade structures, an expanded pathway network, dedicated vendor locations, and an additional shelter.
