Fire crews contain wildfire near Elk Road in West Kelowna

West Kelowna Fire Rescue crews have contained a wind-driven wildfire near Elk Road and Ridge Estates.

Crews arriving at the scene found a fire covering about 70 by 30 metres. Firefighters quickly knocked down the flames and say the fire is not expected to spread beyond its current boundaries.

The initial indication is that the fire was caused by a downed power line.

West Kelowna Fire Rescue is working with BC Hydro to de-energize the lines before crews complete a hand guard around the fire perimeter and begin mop-up operations.
