Uncertainty Over Stickle Road

Jul 31, 2017 | 6:34 AM

Vernon’s M-L-A says it will be up to BC’s new Transportation Minister to determine if the Highway 97-Stickle Road plan is reviewed again.

Eric Foster says the NDP could take another look at it — if there’s enough interest in that.

“The government could do whatever they choose and my other comment was I still maintain my support for the professionals in the Ministry of Transportation and their findings.”

Foster isn’t sure if the new minister, Clare Travena, will consult him on the issue.

Foster still feels most people support the current proposal.

“I would suggest that the silent majority did not support the traffic light on that highway. Time will tell if the ministry changes their plans, then we’ll move forward from there.”

A rally was held by the Sustainable Environment Network Society over the weekend, opposing the plan to extend 20th Street through BX Creek Delta Park.

A contract for the 9.5 million dollar upgrade has not yet been awarded.
