Spallumcheen Councillor looking for fourth term in office

A long-standing Township of Spallumcheen councillor is looking to retain her seat.

Christine LeMarie announced she will run in the fall municipal election.

LeMarie was first elected in 2014 and, if elected again, would be serving her fourth straight term.

In an email to Vernon Matters, LeMarie said she has been grateful to live in and serve a community where local farmers can provide the necessities to the population and beyond, and for the people that contribute to the community in their own ways.

“I’m not looking to change the world, or even change our community just for the sake of change,” LeMarie wrote.

“I’m looking to be a voice for protecting what we have, while recognizing that change is inevitable. My hope is that when change does come, it happens thoughtfully and in a way that puts the best interests of the people in our community first.”

The local general election is set for Oct. 17.
