Clark To Resign

Christy Clark has announced plans to resign as BC Liberal leader.

The former premier will make it official August 4.

Clark issued a brief statement today.

The 51 year old was BC’s 35th premier from 2011 to 2017.

She is also the MLA for Kelowna West, with no word if she plans to continue in that role.

CBC is reporting Clark will also be resigning as the MLA.

NDP premier John Horgan is thanking Clark for her service to British Columbia.

“We take up the call of public service because we want to make this province a better place. While we represented two different political parties, Ms. Clark and I are united in the belief that, working together, we can build a better future for British Columbia and the people who call this place home.”

Horgan says as an MLA and as Premier, Clark fought passionately for what she believed in.

“I know she will take that passion and energy to her next opportunity. I wish her all the best in her future endeavours.”
