Fire Evacuees Offered Free Tattoo Tickets

Jul 27, 2017 | 3:13 PM

Any remaining fire evacuees in the area are being invited to take in the 4th annual Okanagan Military Tattoo for free.

Thanks in part to a donation from Kal Tire, the music and dancing event featuring 600 performers is offering complimentary tickets to wildfire evacuees.

They can be picked up at the Ticket Seller Box Office at the Vernon Performing Arts Centre on 33 Street during normal Box Office hours.

Evacuees will have to provide the yellow copy of their Emergency Social Service File.

The complimentary tickets can only be obtained at the Performing Arts Centre, or at the Kal Tire Place box office two hours prior to each performance. Evacuee tickets cannot be obtained by phone or on line.

The Okanagan Military Tattoo is one of only two annual Military Tattoos in Canada. Two shows are scheduled, one at 7 pm on Saturday night, and a matinee at 2 pm on Sunday. The shows will last approximately 2 hours without an intermission.

This year’s Tattoo will feature more than 600 performers including the Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy, the 160 member Calgary Round-Up Band and the RCMP “E” Division Pipe Band as well as a ethnic dancers and a large contingent of cadets from the Vernon Cadet Summer Training Camp.

Due to the anticipated heavy volume of traffic, attendees are requested to arrive well in advance of the show and enjoy the Tattoo Expo and pre-Tattoo music provided by the Vernon Community Band.
