Park Upgrades

Work to enhance Rutland Recreation Park begins Monday

Jul 5, 2026 | 5:55 AM

Work on the next phase of improvements at Rutland Recreation Park begins next week and will take several months to complete.

Starting Monday, July 6, crews will be working to upgrade the park with an addition of a new artificial turf field, walking pathways, event space, irrigation and lighting upgrades, and servicing for future changerooms and washrooms.

The work was expected to take until December to complete, and during that time Sportsfield R1 and the Community Gardens will be out of service. The dog park will also face two-week closures in August and November.

The work may disrupt traffic and the City of Kelowna reminded motorists to slow down, obey all traffic control measures, and be cautious of workers and equipment when travelling through work sites.
