Kelowna advances major park, waterfront and recreation upgrades across city

The City of Kelowna is highlighting a series of major park, waterfront and recreation projects moving ahead across the city, including new sports facilities, shoreline upgrades and public art installations tied to long-term growth plans.

At Glenmore Recreation Park, phases four and five are taking shape, with a new grass turf field, tennis and pickleball courts, a skate spot, fitness area, picnic space and upgraded pathways among the planned amenities. The sports field is expected to open in July, with additional facilities scheduled to follow in September 2026.

The city said the broader Glenmore project also includes landscape work in the agricultural buffer zone, including the planting of more than 200 trees along Brandts Creek to improve ecological health, shade and climate resilience.

Downtown, the City Park Promenade has already opened its third phase, adding about 300 metres of improved waterfront pathway, seating, lighting and shoreline restoration work aimed at reducing erosion and improving lake access.
