Kelowna RCMP stepping up presence ahead of Canada Day week
Kelowna RCMP will have an increased presence across the city this Canada Day week as officials prepare for large crowds, busy events and heightened activity downtown and around the waterfront.
Police said the city is expecting an influx of visitors for Touchdown Kelowna programming and Canada Day celebrations, with officers deployed across parks, beaches and key gathering areas.
“We will be visible throughout the community,” said Cpl. Steven Lang, media relations officer for Kelowna RCMP. “Our officers will be actively working to keep the community safe through patrols on foot, by bicycle, boat and in vehicles.”
RCMP said additional officers are being brought in from detachments across the province to support local policing during peak event periods.
