Kelowna unveils new waterfront Signature Sign in Stuart Park

Kelowna officially unveiled its new waterfront Signature Sign Friday morning in Stuart Park, marking the launch of a new landmark designed to celebrate the city’s identity and bring people together along the shoreline.

The unveiling, led by Mayor and council, took place from 10 to 11 a.m. near the Kelowna Yacht Club, where residents and visitors gathered to see the illuminated installation revealed for the first time.

City officials say the Signature Sign is intended to act as a gathering place and photo destination, reflecting Kelowna’s character, natural setting and community spirit through artistic and interactive design elements.

Derek Edstrom, divisional director of partnerships and investments, says the sign was created to encourage connection and activity along the waterfront while offering a welcoming public space for residents and visitors.

The project also incorporates storytelling elements inspired by the city’s history and includes acknowledgement of Indigenous representation as part of its broader design approach.

The unveiling also served as the kickoff to Touchdown Kelowna, with BC Lions players in attendance for the morning event.

The Signature Sign is now installed permanently along the waterfront promenade in Stuart Park.
