A local school is getting a boost to help stock its library thanks to a grant program.

The Indigo Love of Reading Foundation is gifting Mission Hill Elementary with $25,000 in funding to purchase new books and resources.

“Watching students read and listen to texts that represent pieces of themselves – their curiosity, heritage, wonders, and passions – is truly seeing them learn and grow,” Kelsey Shore, a teacher at Mission Hill Elementary School, said in a release.

“Access to current, relevant, and intriguing texts in the school library is a game changer for students and teachers.”

The funds being distributed by the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation will come through its Literacy Fund Grant, which provide money to schools across Canada to purchase new reading materials.

There were 50 beneficiaries in this program, but Mission Hill Elementary was the only Okanagan-based school to receive funding this year.
