Vernon library offering courses to help children learn to read

May 19, 2026 | 11:25 AM

The local library is running courses to help young learners with their reading.

The Vernon public library will offer two free Unlock Reading: How Kids Learn to Read, Why They Struggle and How to Help sessions Wednesday and Thursday.

The sessions will explore the science of reading for families to better understand how children learn to read and provide practical tips and strategies to support stronger reading skills.

Those include finding out how children learn to read; the common reasons children struggle with reading; research-backed ways to build reading skills and confidence; and ways to support literacy over the summer months.
