Student-led project aims to promote protection of Kalamalka Lake
A group of local high schoolers are going to be promoting actions to protect Kalamalka Lake.
The Vernon Secondary students have proposed installing educational signage around the lake to raise awareness of the harms littering and illegal dumping have on the region’s key recreating site and water source.
The project, being done as part of Climate Action Ripple Effect program, will see the educational signage pair with a fundraiser and a public awareness campaign.
Coldstream Council supported the project and agreed to allow the signs to go up at the Kal Beach parking lot, Kal Beach entry, Kalavista Boat Launch, and the boat trailer parking lot on Kalavista Drive.
