UPDATE: High Streamflow Advisory lifted

May 13, 2026 | 11:57 AM

The High Streamflow Advisories issued for the Okanagan and surrounding regions have been lifted.

The BC River Forecast Centre put out the advisories out Wednesday, warning the snowmelt coupled with rain in the forecast could lead to rising water levels and fast moving water in area rivers and streams.

The advisories were lifted Friday afternoon.

The recent precipitation and ongoing snowmelt have raised some concerns about streamflows.

The B.C. River Forecast Centre issued a High Streamflow Advisory for the Okanagan Wednesday, May 13.

The agency warned the river levels were rising or expected to rise rapidly, and while no major flooding was expected it did say localized flooding could occur in low-lying areas.

The advisory was issued as the RDNO warned people to be cautious around fast moving water and river banks.

The River Forecast Centre also issued advisories for the South Thompson, North Thompson, Upper Columbia, West Kootenay, East Kootenay and Boundary regions Wednesday.
