Sleeping outside for a cause: Vernon pair backs homeless outreach

May 1, 2026 | 2:45 PM

Representatives from a local homeless outreach group have begun their awareness and fundraising campaign.

Tracey and Jimmy Miller of the group Packman Open Hearts began their Reality Check – Life Without a Home initiative Friday, May 1.

The pair will spend at least 72 hours sleeping on the streets as a way to raise awareness of what it is like to be unhoused, and to raise funds for the group’s outreach work which includes providing people with food, personal hygiene and other essential items, and connections to local services.

The Millers would also be sharing updates on their experience outdoors over the three days through their social media page.
