Two people injured in Tuesday night crash

Two people were seriously injured and the highway through Vernon was closed for several hours following a collision Tuesday night.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP said a motorcycle was travelling south on 32nd St./Highway 97 when it broadsided a Honda Civic that pulled out from 35th Avenue.

B.C. Emergency Health Services said paramedics attended the scene to provide emergency medical treatment, and that both drivers were taken to hospital in serious condition.

The collision occurred around 9:15 p.m. April 21, and resulted in traffic being rerouted off the main road for several hours.

A member of the RCMP Integrated Collision Analyst and Reconstruction Services was tasked with investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. Police did say alcohol was not believed to be a factor but the crash remained under investigation as of Wednesday morning.
