Snowmelt causes flooding issue on Highway 1

Apr 21, 2026 | 4:56 PM

Motorists are being advised about flooding on Highway 1 between Revelstoke and Golden.

DriveBC said water from snowmelt was pooling on the Trans-Canada Highway near Rogers Pass in Glacier National Park Tuesday, creating a risk of hydroplaning.

The highway’s speed limit was reduced to 70 kilometers per hour Tuesday to accommodate for the change in road conditions, and DriveBC advised motorists be cautious when travelling through the affected area.

The B.C. River Forecast Centre had not issued a Flood Advisory or Warning for the area as Tuesday afternoon.
