Pair charged in 2016 West Kelowna murder

Two people have been charged in a decade-old West Kelowna murder.

On January 6, 2016, the body of 22-year old Tura McCarty was found in the driver’s seat of his 1999 Jeep Cherokee along a rural stretch of Bear Creek Road in West Kelowna.

The Southeast District Major Crime Unit was tasked with investigating the case, leading to arrests being made over 10 years later.

On April 17, 2026, 33-year old Heather White of Kamloops and 60-year old Cal Little of Abbotsford were arrested, and the following day the pair were both charged with first-degree murder of McCarty.

“The securing of charge approval was the culmination of more than a decade of tireless efforts involving investigators from the Southeast District Major Crime Unit, the West Kelowna RCMP, BC RCMP Forensic Identification Services, Support Services, RCMP Forensic Lab and Digital Forensic Services,” Inspector Brent Novakoski, Southeast District Senior Investigating Officer, said.

White and Little were being held pending a court appearance in Kelowna on May 14.

Investigators said this killing was believed to have been an isolated and targeted incident.
