Finalists selected for business support in Enterprize Challenge

The finalists have been selected for the 11th annual Enterprize Challenge.

The six selected entrepreneurs vying for the title have a range of business ideas they wish to launch locally:

  • Cherry Kidd and Kurtis Peskleway: Frog Pockets,  a pocket-focused clothing brand for sensory regulation through removable lines with dozens of textures from soft fur to 3D-printed scales
  • Crispin Lipscomb and Raffaella Vaz: Gallery Artiva, a gallery and gift shop at Silver Star Village where local artists , writers, and craftspeople can connect with residents and international visitors
  • Katie Cameron: NeroNest Okanagan, a one-stop hub providing neurodivergent-affirming therapy services for local youth
  • Sara Knol: KNOL HAUS, social work services with at a nature-based wellness campus where practitioners rent private forest cabins to work with clients
  • Sarah Draht: StrongHER Self-Defense, a trauma-informed self defence program built around educating and empowering woman by combining practical kick boxing and self-defence with real-world pressure drills
  • Tyler Patenaude: Pocket Grandson, a personalized technical support services designed to aid people with tasks like uncluttering a slow device, or setting up a new smart phone

“We experienced a record-setting year of registrations for Enterprize Challenge this year,” Margo Fleming, Business Services Manager with Community Futures North Okanagan, which runs the Enterprize Challenge, said. 

“The judges were so inspired by the array of businesses and ideas presented at the First Pitches; they decided to choose Six Finalists instead of the planned Five Finalists.”

The 11th annual Enterprize Challenge will conclude with the finalists presenting their business proposals in a Dragon’s Den-style pitch at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre on May 7.

The entrepreneur named winner of the Enterprize Challenge will take home a prize of over $24,000 in start-up capital and business professional services to make their idea a reality.
