VSAR teams helped rescue stranded motorists

Vernon Search and Rescue were instrumental in helping motorists who were stuck in the Killiney Beach area.

On the evening of Tuesday, March 31, VSAR received a report of five stranded motorists in the Shorts Creek area after their vehicle got stuck in snow.

Search and rescue teams responded to the call and deployed ATVs to make it up to the group. The stranded motorists were then shuttled down to safety where they warmed up before being taken home by VSAR.

There were some complications with the rescue as it was dark and there was snow on the ground, as well as a fallen log on the trail that needed to be cut with a chainsaw to allow search and rescuers to get to the scene.
