Plan to develop trails at Rose’s Pond Park
Steps are being taken to establish a new outdoor recreation amenity for the public.
The Regional District of North Okanagan has directed staff to submit a Crown Tenure Application to secure a 53-hectare natural area near Commonage Road from the province.
The RDNO plans to use the property, which will be named Rose’s Pond Park, to develop what it said would be a “modest” and “accessible” trail network using existing road and trails, while also saying it would take steps to protect the high-value ecological areas. The development would also see wildlife viewing platforms and educational signage installed at the site, noting this would be done in a manner to preserve the environment.
RDNO staff were directed to submit the application to the province, and then proceed with all the necessary submissions, correspondence and follow-up actions required.
