SURREY — A man has been charged in a shooting in Metro Vancouver that injured a vehicle driver, setting off a crash.

Surrey police say officers responded to the crash March 24 on University Drive.

Police say arriving officers found a person had been hit by a bullet while driving down the street.

The victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, and no updates have been given on their condition.

Police say major crime investigators then identified a suspect who has been arrested and was charged.

The 42-year-old man is accused of assault and reckless discharge of a firearm, and he remains in police custody until his next court appearance on April 17.
