Major infrastructure upgrades will be done to 15th Street starting Monday.

The City of Vernon said the work beginning March 16 would involve upgrading the watermain, storm, sanitary sewer and other utility lines; installation of traffic signals; and construction of a multi-use path along 15th St.

“This work is being carried out and funded by the developer,” the City said in a release.

“Construction is expected to continue through August 31, 2026, weather and other conditions permitting.”

While the work is underway, 15th St. will be closed to northbound traffic between Highway 6 and 15th Avenue, though the southbound traffic will be maintained as will emergency vehicle access.

The City reminded people to slow down in construction zones, be cautious of workers and equipment, and obey all traffic control measures.
