Capital Projects Draw Interest
More than 170 Vernon residents came out for a capital projects input session at the Vernon Recreation Centre
The meeting allowed people to review and discuss the projects set for this year with City staff.
Ten project booths featured multiple works that will be taking place throughout Vernon in 2017, such as roadworks, utilities, multi-use paths and park projects.
Major projects include the Kalamalka Lake Road cycle corridor, 30 Street road and utility rehabilitation and 35 Avenue reconstruction.
“We are very pleased with the turnout last night,” says Mark Dowhaniuk, Manager of Infrastructure Management. “Vernon residents had an opportunity to see a variety of projects and get a sense of the scope of work happening in 2017. We had a lot of positive feedback from people who attended the meeting.
Additional meetings will be held as projects progress and the designs and project schedules are refined and finalized.
