The annual fundraiser in support of the arts was very successful with record-breaking support.

The Midsummer’s Eve of the Arts raised over $100,000 in support of the Vernon Public Art Gallery.

“This milestone is a reflection of a deeply rooted commitment to the arts in Greater Vernon,” Dauna Kennedy, executive director of the Vernon Public Art Gallery, said.

“I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the artists, businesses, donors, and volunteers who helped us reach—and exceed—this remarkable goal. These funds will directly support our exhibitions, education programs, and community initiatives, all of which contribute to nurturing an inquisitive and creative mind.”

The event, featuring both a live and silent auction, as well as food and drink, was held at the Coldstream Community Centre and Park Wednesday, July 16, with some notable moments being a sale of Shawn Serfa’s Bifold for $6,250, and James Postill’s Ocean Breaker going for $6,000.

There were also several donors who contributed $1,000 to the gallery, and a special gift of $10,000 from Janet Armstrong, who helped push the fundraiser beyond the goal.

The money araised at the Midsummer’s Eve of the Arts will support the gallery as it offers programs and educational outreach, as well as its work to bring exhibitions to Vernon.
