Warm Welcome, Hot Classes: Inside Oxygen Yoga & Fitness Vernon

Jul 22, 2025 | 8:36 AM

It’s not always easy to find a workout you look forward to, but the new Oxygen Yoga & Fitness Vernon is changing that. With upbeat classes, far infrared heat, and a welcoming, no-judgment attitude, it’s not your typical yoga experience – and that’s exactly the point.

Oxygen Yoga & Fitness Vernon is part of a Canadian-owned franchise that started in Maple Ridge in 2012 and has since grown rapidly across the country. Every class follows Oxygen’s nationwide format, so if you’ve tried one in Vancouver or Calgary, you know what to expect.

The signature fusion-style classes blend elements of yoga, strength training, barre, cardio, Pilates, and stretch. The vibe is far from serene silence. Classes are filled with fun music and instructors who keep things upbeat.

“It’s not like quiet yoga with gentle music. It’s loud and fun,” said local franchise co-owner Shannon Wright. “Some people say it’s like having a party for an hour.”

Classes are taught under far infrared heat, which many members find adds a therapeutic element. Unlike traditional hot yoga with heat pumped into the air, far infrared radiates from panels in the ceiling to warm the body directly.

Designed to penetrate deep into the tissues, some members say they feel the far infrared heat can help reduce perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms. “I find for myself personally, if I go every day, it stops my hot flashes,” said co-owner Theresa.

Classes are accessible to all levels. Even if you’ve never done a particular type of class, or you’re new to fitness altogether, you’ll feel welcome at Oxygen Yoga & Fitness (also called OYF). “All of the classes are modifiable, so they’re great for beginners,” said Shannon.

That inclusive mindset is key to what makes the studio feel different. Members often comment on the vibrant energy and welcoming sense of community.

At the end of your workout under the far infrared heat, you get an icy cold cloth fresh out of the fridge to cool down. “It’s like this little reward, and it’s kind of our signature,” shared Shannon.

Ready to discover OYF for yourself, or just curious to learn more? You’ll find class descriptions, schedules, and pricing on their website, or just stop by the studio on Anderson Way for a taste of the welcoming atmosphere.

Whether you’re looking to sweat, stretch, or simply feel better in your body, you’ll find a fresh take on fitness that’s far less pressure and a lot more fun.
