Oct 22, 2026 | 2:56 PM

Okotoks, AB:  The Vernon Vipers saw their 10-game streak without a regulation loss come to an end Wednesday night, falling 6-1 to the Okotoks Oilers in the opening game of a five-game road trip.

Despite outshooting the Oilers 43-41 and opening the scoring, Vernon struggled to capitalize on its opportunities against an impressive Justin Giguere, who made 40 saves in the Okotoks crease.

Cole Bieksa scored his second goal of the season to give Vernon the early advantage, with Luca Pura collecting the lone assist.

From there, the Oilers took control.

Conner Radke, recently named the BCHL’s Third Star of the Week, led the Okotoks attack with three goals and an assist. Ian Kastamo chipped in with three assists.

Vernon goaltender Sammy DiBlasi made 37 saves on 43 shots in the loss.

Special teams played a significant role in the outcome. The Vipers failed to convert on four powerplay opportunities, while Okotoks scored three times on four chances with the man advantage.

The loss was Vernon’s second regulation defeat of the season, dropping its record to 9-2-1-0.

The Vipers will look to rebound Friday night when they visit the Brooks Bandits at Centennial Regional Arena.
