On July 20, 2024, temperatures soared to nearly 38°C, shattering decades-old records and pushing the community to its limits.
The extreme heat led to the cancellation of several local events as the area dealt with intense conditions. Clear skies and dry weather only added to the heat’s impact, prompting residents to take precautions against heat-related illnesses.
That summer’s heatwave was one of several extreme weather events that highlighted growing concerns about climate change’s effect on the region.
