Fundraiser grows for student found with Vernon’s help

Vernon Search and Rescue helped find the body of TRU student Jatin Garg, who was swept away in the Thompson River.

A GoFundMe is now raising money to help his family with funeral costs and sending him home.

Jatin, 27, was caught in the river on July 7 while retrieving a volleyball.

VSAR joined Kamloops Search and Rescue and others in the search, using boats, sonar, drones, and kayaks.

His body was found nine days later.

The fundraiser has nearly hit its $30,000 goal.
